1971 Range Rover Classic
3.5 V8
Finished in Tuscan Blue paintwork with Beige Interior and the subject of a meticulous restoration
Following the acquisition of Rover by British Leyland in 1966 the further development of the Range Rover model continued and was finally launched to the Press on 17 June 1970. There was immediate and sustained demand due to the absence of any other vehicle offering the breadth of ability of the Range Rover.
It was an instant success combining the characteristics of an accomplished off-roader with that of a family estate car and became something of a status symbol amongst its Owners. The unique high driving position was a totally new experience for prestigious car drivers of the day and unrivalled on UK roads.
After the Earls Court Motor Show in October 1970, British Leyland received the best working exhibit award at the show for the Range Rover chassis, whilst the Institute of British Carriage and Automobile manufacturers awarded it a gold medal for ‘best utility coachwork’ with other accolades to follow.
The supplied British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate shows this home market Tuscan Blue as a December 1970 build and despatched to the dealership of W Holloway & Sons Limited of Worcester.
An early example of this iconic car presents in very good restored condition throughout.
