1979  Mini 1275 GT Wood & Pickett ‘Margrave’

Wood & Pickett (W&P) were one of popular aftermarket companies in the sixties who took a standard classless Mini and elevated it to the luxurious.  They enabled the wealthy to choose from a long list of individually price options to create a daily use city alternative to their more traditionally prestigious vehicles.  This 1275 GT “Margrave” was ordered new in 1979 by the one owner, Alan Gard, who rose to fame as a key player in the 1960s British ‘Jewellery Renaissance’ gaining well-deserved repute for his skill and eye and achieved Royal acclaim.  He joined celebrities such as Elton John, Denny Laine, Mick Jagger and Paul & Linda McCartney all of whom had commissioned their own Minis from the London-based coachbuilder with the very first reportedly commissioned by actress Hayley Mills in 1964.

This vehicle has been London-based its entire life and is now presented fresh from a complete restoration which included bare metal respray, full interior retrim by B-Trim and replacement of the tonal vinyl ‘Pram’ style roof by Aldridge Trimming.  The original Dark Green Metallic paintwork is complimented by Cream Leather Interior Recaro seats with contrast Dark Green Piping, the theme of which extends to the door cards and leather-bound green Carpet Floor Mats.  The Walnut Interior trim of the Dashboard includes a Glove Box, and complimented by matching Door Tops, Handles, Door Pulls, Window Winders, Gear Lever, Handbrake & Steering Wheel.  The Exhaust System has been completely renewed and a thorough Check-over, Service and MOT have all be completed.  The Cloth Headlining colour matches the interior and the Folding Sunroof and Side Windows complete the light theme of the interior.  A Pioneer Radio and Heater complete the interior and the exterior is topped off with the original Superlite Alloys featuring painted centre accents.

This smart Wood & Pickett 1275 has enjoyed continuous use around London by the original owner since new and is once again looking as sharp as the day it was new and ready for a new custodian.
