Mini ‘Purdy’ Special

Purdy Engineering have designed and built a road-going semi race spec historic Mini. The concept taking inspiration from the “David Brown Automotive” project of revamping original Mini’s.  Purdy Engineering have created what started out as a “fun car” and turned it into a “Super Fun Car” with performance to match the driveability.  Guaranteed to create a Super Fun Driving Experience!

This project started life with a very low mileage 1996 Mini 1275cc. The body shell was stripped to bare metal and needed little to no repair due to starting with a Grade A vehicle.  We then proceeded with a very comprehensive full nut & bolt restoration, along with a very detailed performance engine build.  The bespoke design was born out of our race experience along with a vision of how these cars can be significantly enhanced.  Every design detail has been carefully planned and engineered accordingly.  The engine runs twin SU carburettors with Koni filters emulating current race spec historic Minis, with significant thought being given to the engine layout to create an engineered ‘clean’ look. The interior has been designed and hand-crafted utilising the original Mk1 speedo binnacle to reflect a race retro style.

Total project hours 1750+ and taken to Mr Paddy Hopkirk for his opinion upon completion.  We received his glowing compliments, and he kindly added his iconic signature along one of the white bonnet stripes.

SPECIFICATION:

Engine Spec:  Bored to 1320cc, new balanced crank, etc.  The car has had a comprehensive road test, along with a final Dyno performance test, achieving a maximum power output of 98.2 BHP.

4) Original Mk1 130mph Speedo and binacle incorporated into bespoke designed dash featuring discreet Red Leather Piping.

5) Semi Race Bucket Seats & Headrests with Red Piping.

6) Black Interior with discreet Red Piping.

8) Bespoke Switches emulating a Semi Race Spec ‘feel’.

9) Set of 4 Original Stainless Steel Wheel Spats.

10) Restyled Boot Interior to accommodate 12″ Mini Lite Spare.
