I was fortunate enough to be invited by a close friend to the 60th Anniversary of the 300 SL.
This was hosted by the Mercedes Benz 300 SL Club in Germany at the MB Museum, Stuttgart back in June 2017.
We arrived Thursday lunch-time and were delighted to see a beautiful display of 100+ Gullwings and Roadsters parked outside the museum.
Our itinerary for the next few days was very exciting and later that evening was treated to an alfresco drinks party followed by a stunning dinner situated close to where the first ever Mercedes Benz was built and where there is now a small museum to mark the spot.
The following morning, after setting off from the museum grounds, we all took a 100 kms drive to a beautiful castle where we had lunch together and got introduced properly to the wonderful and friendly group of drivers on this trip with us. Later that evening we had an amazing meal at the MB Museum and were treated to exclusive access to the museum galleries which we could pursue at our leisure.
The final day of the trip, after another 100 kms drive to an amazing outdoor lunch through the vineyards on the outskirts of Stuttgart, concluded with a Gala Dinner which ended the anniversary perfectly.
Overall, the trip exceeded our expectations and we made some great acquaintances that we’ve kept in touch with and hope to meet up with again. We got some great shots of the cars that will remain in our memories forever.
Both Deborah and I are already looking forward to participating again next year and hopefully bringing some friends with us to enjoy the experience.
